sustainability of EU-funded projects.<\/strong><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We propose <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\">experimental and innovative actions<\/mark><\/strong> to reduce power asymmetry between key actors in EU-funded projects and to <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\"><strong>promote the development of critical thinking <\/strong><\/mark> on the design and management of European projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By adopting a <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\">diversified, multi-actor and interdisciplinary approach<\/mark><\/strong>, Kalos aims to achieve a <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\">real understanding<\/mark><\/strong> of the different territories, cultures, experiences, environments in which European projects are implemented, and to find solutions based on a <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\">new Kalos, in ancient Greek, means &#8220;beauty&#8221;.<br\/>In Mediterranean languages, the concept of beauty is closely linked to that of goodness and justice.<br\/><br\/>Through a participatory, logical and responsible approach, Kalos pursues an ideal of beauty as part of a European project. is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p>There is a basic inequality in EU-funded research and development projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beneficiaries often have <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\">different starting points<\/mark>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although available, <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\"><strong>general awareness on the variety of<\/strong> <strong>European funding opportunities<\/strong>, <strong>strategies and priorities<\/strong><\/mark>, is not always widespread and is not used by the many actors in the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\">The skills to use the required tools<\/mark><\/strong> do not consider the cultural differences that pre-exist when promoting a collaborative project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\">The ownership of the knowledge and tools required to carry out a European project are not considered a condition of eligibility.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kalos is aware of this challenge and for this reason promotes a more equitable participation among participants in a European project, <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\">by stimulating critical thinking<\/mark> <\/strong>among key actors and empowering beneficiaries to receive, understand and modify the final results to become the real owners beyond the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We consider <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\">the experience to be the starting point for learning<\/mark><\/strong>, which is why <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\">our research and actions begin during the implementation phase of a project:<\/mark><\/strong> only once the project is underway we can become aware of the concrete problems and opportunities and develop effective responses.
